Yes, Flamingo Commons Dental specializes in caring for patients with dental anxiety. We understand how fear or past traumatic experiences can affect your dental visits, and we offer sedation dentistry to help you feel calm and comfortable.
Sedation options available include:
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas): A mild sedative inhaled through a mask that helps you relax during treatment. Effects wear off quickly, allowing you to drive yourself home. Ideal for mild anxiety, children, or shorter procedures.
Oral Conscious Sedation: Involves taking a prescribed anti-anxiety medication about an hour before your appointment. You remain awake but deeply relaxed and may have limited memory of the procedure. Someone will need to drive you to and from the office. Best for moderate anxiety or longer visits.
If deeper sedation or IV sedation is needed, we can coordinate care with a local specialist.
What to expect during your sedation visit:
A comprehensive evaluation of your medical history and anxiety level
Personalized sedation plan tailored to your needs
Continuous monitoring of vital signs during the procedure
Supportive, gentle care from our team throughout your visit
During your first dental appointment at Flamingo Commons Dental, you can expect a welcoming and comfortable experience focused on your oral health and overall comfort. Here’s what typically happens:
Warm Welcome: Our friendly staff will greet you and help with any paperwork using our secure digital system for a smooth, paperless check-in.
Comprehensive Evaluation: The dentist will perform a thorough examination, which may include digital X-rays and intraoral camera imaging to get detailed insights into your oral health.
Personalized Care: We’ll discuss your dental history, any concerns or anxiety you may have, and your goals for treatment.
Clear Communication: The dentist will explain what they see, answer your questions, and provide honest recommendations tailored to your needs.
Comfort Measures: If you experience dental anxiety, sedation options like nitrous oxide or oral conscious sedation can be discussed to help you feel relaxed.
Preventive Guidance: You’ll receive advice on proper brushing, flossing, and any preventive treatments like fluoride or sealants if appropriate.
Scheduling Next Steps: Whether it’s a cleaning, further treatment, or follow-up visits, we’ll help you plan your care with flexible scheduling.
